FIC-CAT, International Festival of Catalan Cinema

The reference festival for contemporary films shot in Catalan.
The 15th edition of the festival brings together the best programming of Catalan cinema, premieres, and encounters with industry professionals.
FIC-CAT was born in 2008 and is the only festival in Catalonia that promotes, advertises, screens, and awards productions shot in Catalan. It is especially aimed at filmmakers with new proposals as it offers them the opportunity to screen and showcase their films. FIC-CAT is a showcase of the best Catalan cinema.

Fire!! Barcelona LGBTI Film Showcase
June 8th – 18th, 2023
A cultural reference that brings LGBTI cinema to the screens.
Fire!!, the first international LGBTI film showcase in Spain, is organized by Casal Lambda in Barcelona, a pioneer since the 1970s in the fight for the rights of the community. Since 1995, Fire!! has addressed affective diversity through a careful selection of feature films and documentaries. For two weeks, the Showcase invites us to enjoy this cultural reference of the city with stories and testimonies of individuals, creators, and artists who break barriers and fight for human rights, helping to build a fairer and freer world through love.

Barcelona International Women’s Film Showcase
June 1st – July 12th, 2023
A deluxe program of films made by women.
The International Women’s Film Showcase, organized by Drac Màgic, a renowned entity with over four decades of history, promotes the visibility of female audiovisual culture. With a program featuring directors from around the world, since 1993 the Showcase has received support from various entities as well as local and national public institutions.
Its programming includes productions from all film genres and is complemented by workshops, courses, conferences, an online platform, and numerous activities held throughout the year, such as the Minute Video call. This event is an exciting invitation to participate in the creation of a collective documentary made by women, with or without experience, behind the camera.

Galacticat, Fantastic and Horror Film Showcase of Ponent
June 22nd – July 2nd, 2023
A program of fantastic and horror cinema in the lands of Ponent.
Year after year, Galacticat presents in Tàrrega a select program, unique in the Terres de Lleida region, of live-action and animated fiction films.
Alongside the screening program, the showcase presents other activities, such as GalactiCurt, an annual proposal where institutions and industry professionals are invited to carry out different activities in schools and institutes.

Mecal, Barcelona International Short and Animation Film Festival
June 17th – July 4th
A powerful program of nationally and internationally renowned shorts. The best national and international short films gather at Mecal, the International Short and Animation Film Festival of Barcelona. Since 1998, the festival offers a carefully curated program with five official sections: international, documentary, animation, oblique, and music video. In addition to the screenings, which cover a wide variety of themes, genres, origins, eras, and authors, the festival organizes a large number of parallel activities throughout the year: round tables, competitions, workshops, masterclasses, and dedicated events for animated shorts.
Beyond the borders of the Catalan capital, Mecal Chile expands the festival internationally.
