The Vol.II of the MIFDB is back this September. We kick off the autumn programme with the Archipelago Open Call, which this year is dedicated to the filmmaker Barbara Hammer, a pioneer of lesbian and experimental cinema. From October onwards, the itinerating programme “Known and Recognized” will tour various municipalities across Catalunya, showcasing the latest works by Catalan female directors and thereby decentralising film screenings. That same month, as part of the ‘Latin American Filmmakers’ programme, we will be focusing on contemporary Brazilian cinema with three films that explore the experience of being a teenager or young person in Brazil. Meanwhile, this year’s MFF XII series will feature three screenings and a workshop that challenge the concept of beauty and explore processes of alienation from one’s own body, running in parallel with the exhibition ‘The Cult of Beauty’.
