On October 6, Catalunya Film Festivals celebrated the 50th anniversary of Sitges Film Festival with an international meeting of film festivals, Wild Wild Fest.
The 50th edition of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival was closed with more than 66,000 tickets sold, which is 10% more than last year and confirmation of the upward trend of recent years.
The presence of stars such as Guillermo Del Toro, Susan Sarandon or William Friedkin has given rise to an edition that has again offered an overwhelming menu, with dishes for all tastes, for lovers of fantastic cinema. A genre that is no longer a stronghold of militant fans, but has been consolidated with a wider audience thanks to the strength gained in the billboard of Hollywood blockbusters, especially superhero films, or the support obtained from of the new television fiction.
And next year, Sitges will celebrate another 50th anniversary, that of the science fiction masterpiece: ‘2001, A Space Odyssey’.
